Local Development Framework Core Strategy meetings
The Core Strategy has now been the subject of special meetings
of the Council's Community, Customers and Partners Scrutiny
Committee and Cabinet.
On Thursday 18 March it will be discussed at a
special meeting of Full Council at the Trinity Park Showground
starting at 6pm.
Full Council is being recommended to proceed towards final,
formal adoption, which will occur some time during 2011. In the
meantime, it is recommended that the policies as presented are
adopted as interim planning policy for the determining of planning
applications and enforcement.
In addition, a final recommendation is designed to safeguard the
Council’s position should there be a significant change to national
planning policy, something which may or may not occur should there
be a change of government at the national level.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting.

Air quality consultation
Suffolk Coastal is now undertaking a period of consultation
to seek local views on the draft Air Quality Action Plan junction
of Lime Kiln Quay Road, Thoroughfare and St. John’s Street in
Woodbridge and the findings of the 2009 Updating and Screening
Assessment report which looks at air quality across the entire
district. Your comments on the reports are welcomed and will help
shape future investigations and reports - closing dates for
comments is 28 May 2010.
Essex and South Suffolk draft Shoreline Management
Plan
The Essex and South Suffolk draft Shoreline Management Plan
(SMP) covers approximately 440km of coast from Landguard Point in
Felixstowe to Two Tree Island in the Thames Estuary. It will
determine the best ways to look after this part of the coast in a
sustainable way for the next 100 years.
Consultation on the draft plan starts on 15 March until 18 June
and is being carried out by the Environment Agency. Drop-in
exhibitions are being held where you can pick up a summary of
the draft plan, ask questions and discuss the recommendations with
members of the project team. A drop-in exhibition will take
place in Felixstowe on:
- Thursday 25 March, 2pm to 7.30pm.
Felixstowe Town Hall, Undercliff Road West, IP11 2AG.
The draft plans and a comment form will be available on the
Environment Agency website (new window) from
15 March.
Join the campaign for better broadband access
In Suffolk we are seriously disadvantaged by the speed of our
broadband service. We now have a chance to improve the overall
service across the county and the Suffolk Broadband Partnership is
asking for everyone’s help. If you haven't already done so, please
take 5 minutes of your time to register on the EREBUS (Eastern
REgion Broadband Uplift Scheme) website and vote in the online
survey to improve our county's chances to get funding for faster
broadband.
The EREBUS survey, being led by the East of England Development
Agency (EEDA), will demonstrate that Suffolk needs amongst other
things - faster learning platforms for schools and homes, faster
and more efficient healthcare teleservices, faster ‘do it online’
facilities and a competitive edge for our local businesses.
So far, the high speed broadband campaign for Suffolk has got
off to a flying start with Suffolk registrations on the EREBUS
website one of the highest in the East of England.
However the Suffolk Broadband Partnership is asking for one more
push from the people of Suffolk to register on the EREBUS site to
give Suffolk that distinctive edge over the rest of the region. So
if you haven’t yet taken up the opportunity the Suffolk Broadband
Partnership urges you to do so.
Better broadband will help Suffolk deliver on its greenest
county priority, reduce rural isolation and help to address the
limited access to services in some parts of our county.

Suffolk Police surveys
Suffolk Police would like to hear your views about policing in
the county. In particular, they would like to know what you think
their priorities should be and whether they are dealing with the
issues that are important to you. If you are in full time education
in a high school or sixth form college they would like your views
on issues affecting you.
