Library services in the district are provided by Suffolk County
Council. Anyone can use a library in Suffolk just by walking into
it. You can use the enquiry service, read books, newspapers and
magazines completely free of charge.
Suffolk Libraries Direct (new window) gives
you access to a range of online services, such as the
library catalogue, and lets you renew or reserve items such
as books, DVDs and CDs.
eBooks are now available (new window) from
Suffolk Libraries.
To borrow items from the library and to use the subscription
services on Suffolk Libraries Direct you need a library card.
Getting a library card doesn't cost anything, and there are no age
limits. Just go to your nearest library with some official
identification which shows your name and local address and you will
get a library card which you can use right away.
You can apply for a library card online at
Suffolk Libraries Direct (new window).
Children and young people up to the age of 16 need an adult to
act as their guarantor.
