Saving energy saves you money and it also benefits all of us by cutting down on the carbon emissions and pollution caused whenever we use energy derived from fossil fuels.

Suffolk Coastal is committed to improving energy efficiency in homes so we work in partnership to provide a number of energy efficiency initiatives:

Suffolk Energy Action Link (SEAL)
All seven local authorities in Suffolk work together under the Suffolk Energy Action Link (SEAL) banner to promote domestic energy efficiency and to run schemes for domestic solar water heating, cavity wall and loft insulation.

Free cavity wall and loft insulation
If you or a member of your household receives state benefits or is 70 years old or over then you may be entitled to free cavity wall and/or loft insulation.

Energy saving light bulb library
Our energy saving light bulb library is available if people in your community want to try out the different types of bulb available at home.

Warmer homes - better health
Working with health authorities, social services and the voluntary sector, this scheme aims to help those who cannot afford to heat their homes properly. This section also gives details of the various grants and schemes available for insulation and heating improvements.

Warm Front grants (new window)
Grants for energy efficiency and heating measures are available if you are in receipt of means tested or disability benefits and you are elderly or have children under the age of 16. For more information call 0800 316 2805 (calls are free).

Minor works grant for insulation work
Grants for insulation work are available to owner-occupiers of properties in Council Tax bands A, B or C, who are over 65 or in receipt of Council Tax Benefit. Landlords can also apply.

Energy Saving Trust (new window)
The government-funded organisation set up to promote and encourage energy saving and provide free energy saving advice. You can also use their website to search for energy saving grants and offers (new window). Information and advice about energy saving is also available on 0800 512 012 (calls are free).

Energy-wise
Find out about the school based project for a variety of ages raising awareness of energy types, uses and consequences of their use.
