Local government in Suffolk
There are three tiers of local government in Suffolk. Suffolk
County Council is responsible for major county-wide services such
as education, social services and highways. District and borough
councils provide a wide range of local services including refuse
collection, environmental health, dealing with planning
applications, providing leisure facilities, council housing,
administration of Housing and Council Tax benefits and Council Tax
collection. The third tier are
town and
parish councils who provide services which enhance the life of
the village or town.

Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs)
Local Strategic Partnerships include representatives from
business, voluntary, community and statutory organisations who work
together to improve the economic, social and environmental
well-being of the area they cover.
