Major improvements to Deben Swimming Pool in Woodbridge, means
that the pool will be closed to swimmers for four weeks from next
Monday.
Suffolk Coastal are funding the instillation of a new boiler
system at a cost of £75,000. DC Leisure will be using the pool
closure to undertake other minor building refurbishments during the
closure from Monday, November 30 until its expected re-opening date
of Sunday, December 27.
“The gym will remain open as usual during the pool closure but
there will be no hot water for the sauna, showers or heating during
this time,” said Cllr Mary Neale Cabinet Member for Countryside and
Leisure.
Felixstowe and Leiston Leisure centres will be open as normal
during the maintenance period and Kinetika members may use the
pools and facilities at either of the centres at no additional
charge. Coastal Card holders will also be able to use the other
facilities at a discounted rate.
“I hope the closure of the pool does not hinder too many people
from enjoying a swim and I would encourage people to try one of our
other centres if they have not done so before. It is a shame to
have the pool out of action for four weeks but swimmers can look
forward to enjoying the improvements for years to come.
“This investment by Suffolk Coastal and its partners DC Leisure,
who manage Deben and our other sports centres, shows our commitment
to ensuring the quality of our facilities,” added Cllr Neale.
Pool and centre programmes for both Felixstowe and Leiston Leisure
centres can be downloaded from
