Women can go back to court with netball initiative

03 Feb 2012

The call has gone out to women across the district to take up the chance to pick up their bib and try their hand at playing netball again, with a special free session lined up for Tuesday, February 21.

Suffolk Coastal’s sports development team have gained funding from Sportivate to run the free one-hour session, with the chance for women to sign up for another five weeks afterwards.

“This initiative is aimed at women of all abilities aged 16 or over who may not have taken to a netball court since their schooldays and would like to improve their skills and fitness,” said Cllr Geoff Holdcroft, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Economic Development.

“Hopefully enough women will enjoy it so that they will make a regular date with the court every Tuesday night. After the free session on February 21, it is only £3 a week or £10 for all five weeks for those who recapture the netball bug,” added Cllr Holdcroft.

The sessions are being held from 8pm to 9pm at Kesgrave Community and Sports Centre, Twelve Acre Approach, Kesgrave. Anyone who would like to find out more, or book a place, can contact Sarah Shinnie, Suffolk Coastal’s sports development officer on 01394 444652 or email active.communities@suffolkcoastal.gov.uk
