Archived press release.

The Felixstowe Area (FA) Cup will be up for grabs again on Sunday, August 20 when five-a-side teams from all over Suffolk Coastal will be battling it out at the Coronation Sports Ground, Felixstowe.

The tournament, organised by Suffolk Coastal’s Active Leisure team, will be split into three age groups – under 11, under 13 and under 16.

“This popular competition is now a regular event in our programme of summer activities with teams entering from all over the district,” said Councillor Rae Leighton, Cabinet Member for Community Well-being.

“With the chance of winning trophies and medals as well as the prized cup, we would like even more teams to enter this year and make this the top football event for the youngsters in our district,” added Councillor Leighton.

The tournament is open to all abilities and kick off will be at 10.30am.  The cost of entering is £2 per person to be paid in advance. Each team must have a minimum of five players and a maximum of seven players.

This year’s festival of football should also attract bigger than ever crowds as the park will also be hosting the second Quality of Life event, backed by the Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership, and aimed at offering helpful advice to all sections of the community.

Teams who would like to enter should contact Active Leisure on 01394 444652 or email active.leisure@suffolkcoastal.gov.uk for a booking form.  Entries must be received by Monday, August 14.
