A special forum is being held next week when people are being
asked to come along and give their views on what the important
issues are facing Suffolk Coastal’s biggest town and how the
Felixstowe Futures team can help.
Felixstowe Town Hall is hosting the forum from 2pm to 5pm on
Thursday, December 8 when people can meet members of the team
tasked with helping to shape the future for the town and the
resort.
“This is a splendid opportunity for the public to come along and
find out exactly what the Felixstowe Futures team are doing and how
much of a difference they are making, while at the same time being
able to give them a steer on what should be their priorities,” said
Cllr Geoff Holdcroft, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Economic
Development and a member of the Felixstowe Futures steering
group.
“These are challenging times for all parts of the country, but
Felixstowe is continuing to see its share of good news that are the
envy of others, whether it be the multi-million investment at the
Port, or the £10m coastal defence works at Central Felixstowe, or
the £2m lottery investment in the Seafront Gardens or the £1m
County Council shared space scheme in Hamilton Road.
“Felixstowe is also blessed with having a team who are
concentrating solely on bringing new investment into the town and
helping deliver the long-term planned growth that its residents and
visitors need. This day is a chance for people to meet that team
and help them achieve their goals,” added Cllr Holdcroft.
The forum will include displays of the successful projects that
the team has been involved in including the seafront gardens
project, the shared space scheme, the Triangle canopy space, and
the Save Trimley Station campaign. There will also be displays from
a number of Felixstowe Futures partner organisations.
The team, led by Joseph James, has recently been strengthened by
the appointment of Corinne Cappell as the manager for the seafront
gardens project and Daniel King as its development officer.
Those attending the forum will also be asked for their views
about Felixstowe Futures’ highlighted priorities, such as helping
the business community, marketing the town and improving the
seafront.
