Suffolk Coastal residents can continue as normal this Christmas
with the council offices at Melton Hill being open for two days
during the Christmas period and more services than ever available
online.
There is a whole host of services available at the touch of a
button online making it easier and more convenient for residents
living in the district to get in touch with the council and benefit
from the services Suffolk Coastal provides.
“When the offices are closed residents can find a wide range of
information on our website,
www.suffolkcoastal.gov.uk.
Residents can also make use of the online services we provide such
as making a payment, making a planning application, making a claim
for Housing or Council Tax Benefit, managing their business rates
account or telling us what they think about our services,” said
Cllr Doreen Savage, Cabinet Member for Customer Services.

“Christmas can often be a time of additional waste and I would
encourage residents to try and cut down on the amount of rubbish
sent to landfill over the busy period as much as they can.
“Wrapping paper and cards can go in the blue-lidded bin and
cooked or uncooked food waste and real Christmas trees with
branches up to one and a half inches in diameter can go in the
brown bin.
“Glass bottles can be taken to the nearest glass bank but if
they are full I would remind residents to please not leave bottles
next to the bin but instead wait until the bin is empty or take the
bottles along to one of the household waste recycling centres,”
added Cllr Savage.
For more information about the refuse and recycling collection
schedule or what can go in each of the bins residents can call

Outside of the office opening hours the Council can be contacted
on the emergency number 07771 816535. All services and opening
hours will resume as normal on Monday, January 4.
