The local voice of young people wants to produce its own SCTV
guide to everything on offer in Suffolk Coastal during the summer
and would like to hear from anyone that is ready to take up its
offer of a free listing.
SCTV – Suffolk Coastal Teen Voices – has its own website that
puts the spotlight on what it is doing as the district’s forum for
young people, but now it wants to capture what’s on around Suffolk
Coastal.
“We are just starting to build up our What’s On section of our
website and we want to offer our own Summer Guide 2008 aimed at
SCTV’s target of 13-19 year olds, letting them know of all the
things that are on offer to them,” said Alex Stewart of SCTV.
“We know from some of the organisations that we have met that
there are far more things going on in this district than people
ever know about. There are loads of clubs, or organisations and
businesses who are regularly putting on events that are not getting
publicised enough.
“With our free listing, SCTV will try to fill the information
gap between the young people who say there’s nothing to do and
those people who are putting things on but aren’t attracting as
many people as they would like,” added Alex.
SCTV helped Suffolk Coastal design and launch its own Coastal
Potato website and Alex sees the SCTV Summer Guide and regular
What’s On section as a natural partner to Coastal Potato.
“We want to spread our net wider and take in some of the activities
and events that probably do not sit comfortably on the Coastal
Potato site. Our listings will be up to date and aimed squarely at
the teenage population of the district, keeping them in touch with
what is happening across their area.
“I hope as many people as possible send us their listings and
make our Summer Guide 2008 the must visit webpage for young people
in our district, but we want to hear about everything. It does not
just have to be during the summer holidays as we will put it
straight on our What’s On page, so whether it is an event, activity
or a concert or film listings, just send it all to
enquiries@SCTV.org.uk”,
added Alex.
The SCTV website is proving a hit with young people, with around
4,000 visits to its pages during February and March. Go to
www.sctv.org.uk and find out
what SCTV are up to.
“I think that it is great that SCTV have recognised that one of
the most important parts of any website is a What’s On section and
it would be really helpful for local young people if they could
find out all that is on offer for them by just visiting this
website. I hope they get flooded with information because there can
never be too many virtual signposts as to what’s going on in our
district,” said Cllr Doreen Savage, Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic
Partnership Board Member.
