Voluntary groups that are resolving to get even better in 2010
can get a helping hand at a free advice session in Felixstowe.
The Suffolk Coastal Resource Network (SCRN) is holding a
Networking Lunch at St Felix Church Hall in Gainsborough Road,
Felixstowe from 12pm to 2pm on Friday, January 22 offering
information and advice to local voluntary groups or
organisations.
“The Networking Lunch is the perfect opportunity to make
sure that any voluntary groups or organisations are in good shape
for the New Year ahead,” said Cllr Ray Herring, Chairman of the
Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) Board.
Over the past year, over 100 groups have been helped by the
SCRN, accessing valuable advice, meeting others in similar
positions, and finding out more about available funding and
training opportunities.
Speakers at January’s event will include representatives from
The Big Lottery Fund, the Suffolk Foundation, Suffolk Climate
Change Partnership and Suffolk Coastal District Council.
“The lunchtime events have proved to be a great tool for local
voluntary groups to find out information and network with other
groups that can offer advice about issues such as raising the
organisation’s profile, attracting new volunteers and applying for
funding,” added Cllr Herring.
At the Networking Lunch groups and organisations can also find
out about booking a one-to-one funding surgery for newly formed or
existing groups to find out if they are missing out on receiving
any grants or funding and how to tap into these additional
resources.
“Over the past year more than £364,000 has been awarded in
funding to local voluntary groups for many different projects and I
would encourage any voluntary group or organisation to come along
to the Networking Lunch to find out if they could receive any
additional support,” added Cllr Herring.
To book a place at the Networking Lunch, including a free buffet
lunch, or to find out more information, voluntary groups and
organisations can email

or telephone 01473 275195.
There is also a good deal of information about the kind of support
available to local groups and organisations on the SCRN website,
