A date has been set for the by-elections to fill the vacant seats on Suffolk Coastal District Council, Woodbridge Town Council and Suffolk County Council and nominations are now being sought from potential candidates.

The polling stations will be open on Thursday, September 18 between 7am and 10pm if candidates come forward for the vacancies before 12 noon on Thursday, August 21.

The seats became vacant on June 30 after the Independent councillor Ben Redsell submitted his resignation to all three councils.

Whoever is elected to take on the Woodbridge Riverside District Ward is due to be on the District Council until May 2011, which is the same period for the Woodbridge Riverside Parish seat. The Woodbridge County Division seat is next due to be contested in May 2009.

Nomination forms can be obtained from Suffolk Coastal’s elections team, who are in charge of all three elections, either by calling at the Melton Hill offices or by calling 01394  444329.
