A date has been set for the by-elections to fill the vacant
seats on Suffolk Coastal District Council, Woodbridge Town Council
and Suffolk County Council and nominations are now being sought
from potential candidates.
The polling stations will be open on Thursday, September 18
between 7am and 10pm if candidates come forward for the vacancies
before 12 noon on Thursday, August 21.
The seats became vacant on June 30 after the Independent
councillor Ben Redsell submitted his resignation to all three
councils.
Whoever is elected to take on the Woodbridge Riverside District
Ward is due to be on the District Council until May 2011, which is
the same period for the Woodbridge Riverside Parish seat. The
Woodbridge County Division seat is next due to be contested in May
2009.
Nomination forms can be obtained from Suffolk Coastal’s
elections team, who are in charge of all three elections, either by
calling at the Melton Hill offices or by calling 01394
444329.
Completed forms must be returned to the elections team by 12
Noon on Thursday, August 21. More information can also be found on

The closing date for anyone wanting to apply for a postal vote,
or to change existing proxy or postal vote arrangements, is 5pm on
Wednesday, September 3.
