A special meeting is being held on Tuesday about Woodbridge
skatepark as the countdown begins to when it can welcome its first
set of keen users.
Suffolk Coastal and Just 42 have arranged the meeting on
Tuesday, August 19 at Woodbridge Youth Centre, in The Avenue,
between 6.30pm and 7.30pm so that everyone can find out the latest
news.
“Work on site next to Deben Swimming Pool is just getting
underway, and in eight weeks time we expect to have an exciting new
facility for the young people of Woodbridge,” said Cllr Doreen
Savage, Cabinet Member for Young People.
“We are calling on all boarders, BMXers, and bladers to come
along to find out the latest on what will be their skatepark, and
we would welcome any parents along as well.
“No-one can deny that the skatepark has taken a long time in
becoming a reality, but the great news is that work has now started
and everything should be ready in October, and we want young people
to get involved now in working out how it should be run,” added
Cllr Savage.
Funding for the skatepark has come from a range of sources
including Suffolk Coastal, Woodbridge Town Council, Sport England,
SET, Awards for All, Woodbridge Community Council, the Suffolk
Coastal Community Safety Partnership, Market Towns Initiative, the
County’s Regeneration Fund, Community Champions, Ganzoni Trust,
Woodbridge School and local
fundraising.
