From October through to April, there are no dog restrictions in
force on beaches in Suffolk Coastal.
There are restrictions during the summer on some beaches from 1
May through to 30 September each year. These are clearly signposted
and more details and maps of the restricted areas are given
below.
Dog waste bins are provided in many convenient locations to help
you clear up after your pet.
Some areas of the Suffolk coast are designated as nature
reserves and are home to nesting birds and rare plants. These may
restrict dogs or require that they are kept on leads. Please comply
with any notices displayed to this effect.
Aldeburgh
Though the main beach is restricted from May through September,
there is a mile of dog-friendly beach just to the North of
Aldeburgh which stretches from the Wentworth Hotel to
Thorpeness.
Dunwich Heath and beach
Dogs are allowed on the National Trust site although
restrictions apply. Call 01728 648501 or email
dunwichheath@nationaltrust.org.uk
for more information.
Felixstowe
While the main beach of Felixstowe has dog restrictions in place
from May through September, there are dog-friendly beaches on
either side of the restricted area, which runs from Spa Pavilion to
Arwela Road.
Thorpeness
Dog restrictions are in place from May through September on
a small area of beach adjacent to Remembrance Road.
Sizewell
Tucked between Dunwich and Thorpeness, Sizewell beach has no
restrictions on dogs year-round although occasional restrictions
are imposed for the safe-keeping of nesting birds.
