Felixstowe is an attractive Victorian town, known as the "Garden Resort of the East Coast". This is due to its extensive and beautiful gardens, along its long, level promenade and in the town centre. The seafront gardens are listed on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of National Importance.

There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the beach areas, along the seafront and in the town centre, which is bustling with a large range of chain stores as well as individual specialist shops, ripe for a visit

The Spa Pavilion Theatre has a wide variety of shows including ballet, an annual drama festival and a traditional pantomime. It is situated in the heart of the resort and is home to a fantastic sea view restaurant.

There is a cinema that shows the latest films, and many amusements and children´s activities. The Leisure Centre on the seafront has a swimming pool, a bowling rink, a soft-play area for children and a gym, as well as a catering outlet and bar.

At Felixstowe Ferry, there is a foot ferry across the estuary to Bawdsey - which makes an interesting trip in its own right as it was the birthplace of radar. At Bawdsey there are many delightful walks and the area is ideal for bird watching.

At the other end of Felixstowe, there is the Landguard Peninsula with the nature reserve, Landguard Fort and Felixstowe Museum. Very popular with residents and visitors is the viewpoint area on the Landguard Peninsula where container ships and cruise liners can be watched going in and out of the ports of Harwich and Felixstowe.
