You can pay your Business Rates in the following ways:
- In full at the start of the financial year on 1 April.
- By two instalments, half-yearly, on 1 April and 1
September.
- By 10 monthly instalments on the first day of the month, April
to January.

- Direct debit - this is the simplest and

- Secure online payment by credit or debit card

- By post - make your cheque payable to Suffolk
Coastal District Council (please write your account number clearly
on the back) and send it to the Chief Cashier, Suffolk Coastal
District Council, Melton Hill, Woodbridge IP12 1AU. We will send
you a receipt if you enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
- In person - you can pay in person by cheque,
debit or credit card (please note that a 2% fee applies to all
credit card transactions) at our Melton Hill offices, Monday
to Thursday between 8.45am and 5.15pm and Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm.
Payments received after 4.30pm will be treated as processed on the
following day. Please note that we no longer accept
cash payments at Melton Hill.

Financial difficulties
If you think you will have difficulty making the payment shown
on your rate demand please ring the Business Rates Team on
01394 444544 or 444546
immediately. If necessary you can get advice from a debt
counselling service such as the
Citizens
Advice Bureau.
All ratepayers have the right to pay their Business Rates by
instalments, but you must pay regularly and on time. If your
payments fall behind more than twice within a financial year you
can lose that right.
