Suffolk Coastal's Port Health team
has responsibility for all food safety and food standards
matters relating to imported foods including:
- Operation of the Felixstowe border inspection post (products of
animal origin).
- Imported food control (non-animal origin products) at
Felixstowe, Harwich International Port, Harwich Navyard and Mistley
Quay.
- Inspection of vessels to ensure compliance with international
and United Kingdom health requirements food hygiene.
- Inspections of vessels within the dock control of infectious
disease.
- Verification of organic produce at point of importation and
undertaking monitoring programmes.
