You can pay your Council Tax and business rates by Direct Debit. More than 70% of residents pay their Council Tax in this way. Why? - because Direct Debit offers a number of important advantages:

  • Peace of mind - Direct Debit is a safe, secure and reliable system.
  • It's the most convenient way to pay - Direct Debit saves you the bother of remembering to write out cheques. There's also no need to visit the Council's offices or send your payment by post.
  • Once the Direct Debit is set up, there's no need to do anything else as any changes will be made automatically and you will always be notified well in advance.
  • You will always be in control - you will always know in advance how much will be debited from your bank account and when. Your bank or building society statements will clearly show each payment debited from your account.

If you do not currently pay your Council Tax or Business Rates by Direct Debit and wish to pay by this method, you can download and print off a copy of our Direct Debit application forms by following the links below:

Please note that if payment is not made in accordance with your instalments, recovery action will be taken. This could result in your right to pay by instalments being cancelled and the balance of the full year's charge due immediately.
