Council elections took place on 5 May 2011 when the
Conservatives retained control of the Council by winning 44 seats.
The Liberal Democrats secured 5 seats, Labour 4 seats, and 2
independent councillors were elected (one Independent, one
Community Independent) -

The Conservatives lost two seats (one in Leiston to a Community
Independent and one in Felixstowe North to Labour) but gained one
in Felixstowe West. The Liberal Democrats lost four seats overall
(all three in Felixstowe West, and also Yoxford where the sitting
councillor was re-elected as an Independent). Labour gained three
in Felixstowe North and West.
16 new councillors were elected on the 5 May:

- Margaret Morris (Felixstowe West)
- Mark Newton (Rushmere St Andrew)
- Graham Peck (Hacheston)
- Josh Sayles (Woodbridge Seckford)
- Michael Sharman (Felixstowe West)
- Kimberley Williams (Felixstowe North)
- John Withey (Rushmere St Andrew)
Councillor Barry Slater (Yoxford) was relected as an independent
candidate.
Sitting councillors Sherrie Green (Trimleys with Kirton),
Michael Ninnmey (Felixstowe West) and Harry Dangerfield (Felixstowe
West) lost their seats on 5 May.
Two candidates were elected without a contest, as the Council’s
current Leader, Ray Herring was the only person nominated for the
Orford and Tunstall ward, and Phillip Dunnett was the only person
nominated for the Snape ward.

(Aldeburgh), Angel Goodwin (Felixstowe North), Sandra Bryant
(Felixstowe West), Winter Rose (Framlingham), Ivan Jowers
(Grundisburgh), Colin Hart (Hacheston), Rhona Sturrock (Hollesely
with Eyke, John Geater (Leiston), Dennis Gooch (Rushmere St
Andrew), Gordon Laing (Rushmere St Andrew), Cyril Fidler (Snape),
Peter Austin (Walberswick and Wenhaston), and Cliff Cocker
(Woodbridge Seckford).
