Local council elections

District, town and parish council elections in Suffolk Coastal are held every four years with the last full elections taking place in May 2007. By-elections may be held to fill vacant seats as and when they occur.

The next Suffolk County Council elections (new window), which are also held every four years, are due to be held in 2009 and the Government is currently proposing that they should be held on the same day in June as the European Parliament elections.

Woodbridge by-elections September 2008

By-elections were held in Woodbridge for the Woodbridge Riverside district council and town council seats, and the Woodbridge Division county council seat, on 18 September 2008. Follow this link to find out details of the results.

District, town and parish council May 2007

A total of 137 candidates contested the 55 seats on Suffolk Coastal District Council in the local elections held on 3 May 2007.

Fifteen of the district’s town and parish councils were also contested, while a total of nearly 800 residents put themselves up to be town or parish councillors across the district.
