Local council elections

District, town and parish council elections in Suffolk Coastal are held every four years with the last full elections taking place in May 2007. By-elections may be held to fill vacant seats as and when they occur.

The last full Suffolk County Council elections, which are also held every four years, took place on 4 June 2009.

Registering to vote and voting by post or proxy

You have to be on the electoral register if you want exercise your democratic right to vote in elections. If you are not on the electoral register it is easy to register. Follow this link for more about registering to vote.

There are three different ways you can vote. Most people vote in person at a polling station. However, if you are not able to go to the polling station in person on election day, you can apply to vote by post or by proxy (someone voting on your behalf).  Follow this link for more about voting by post or proxy.
