A second community conference was held at Snape Maltings on 26
March 2010.
Attended by over 100 people the conference heard about the
significant progress being made by the community led topic area
task and finish groups in identifying both the key issues and
possible solutions to the long term challenges of the coastal
zone.
Each of the topic areas represented different sectors of the
community and there were some common themes between the groups. The
primary concern was that of the importance of flood risk management
for the area and its potential negative impacts on the long term
viability of the area if there was a major event.
The concept of the 'Suffolk model' for coastal governance was
outlined and workshops at the conference built on the latest ideas
on 'shared objectives' and how this fits into the overall approach.
In addition further work, the workshops looked at the best ways of
improving the dialogue between the Suffolk Coast Futures partners
and the local community.
