Waveney coastal change pathfinder project

Top - Easton Bavents. Bottom - Corton village and beach The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) funded a number of coastal change pathfinder projects around the coast of England and Wales to test out their coastal change policy aimed at helping coastal communities at risk of coastal erosion. The projects ran from early 2010 to spring 2011.

Waveney District Council, in partnership with Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Coastal Futures led a £1.5m pathfinder project that focussed on two coastal frontages at Corton and Easton Bavents.

The project worked with these two coastal communities and local partners to establish what options there are for managing the effects of coastal erosion and it's impacts on community life and businesses.

Full details of the Waveney pathfinder project can be found on the specially created Corton and Easton Bavents coastal change portal (new window).
