The Suffolk Integrated
Coastal Zone Management Initiative (ICZMI), or Suffolk
Coast Futures for short, is developing a new approach
to managing the future of the coastal zone.
Suffolk Coast Futures is a partnership between regional and
local government and government agencies. The partners recognise
that the communities, the economy and the environment in the
coastal zone of Suffolk face difficult challenges both now and
increasingly in the future.
Working in partnership with the community, the work of Suffolk
Coast Futures is to bring together all the social, economic and
environmental factors to develop a more sustainable and
co-ordinated approach to the long term management of the coast and
the estuaries.
Alde & Ore Futures project
A pilot project will be focussed on the area around the
Alde and Ore estuary to produce a draft plan or
'route map' for the area to address the key issues identified by
the community, start to address any governance and policy issues
and develop mechanisms for the joint funding of projects.
Who are the partners?
