About 15% of the planning applications received by the Council
are determined by the
Development Control Committee and
two area Development Control Sub-Committees.
The rest are determined by the
Head of
Planning Services under delegated powers set out in the
Scheme of Delegation (new window PDF 54KB).
Applications are normally reported to the sub-committees if
there are local objections or representations made by the
ward councillor.
Suffolk Coastal is split administratively into two areas, north
and south, with each area served by a sub-committee:
- North area - covers Ufford up to
Walberswick and across to Chediston down to Otley.
- South area - covers eastern fringes of
Ipswich, Felixstowe, Woodbridge and Melton.
Meetings are scheduled to be held every four weeks in the
Council Chamber at the Council's offices in Woodbridge. Follow the
