General Election May 2010

A UK parliamentary General Election was held on 6 May 2010 with five candidates contesting the Suffolk Coastal seat and seven for the Central Suffolk and North Ipswich seat along with local elections in some parts of England.

In Suffolk Coastal a local Suffolk County Council election for Aldeburgh and Leiston was held on the same day.

Suffolk Coastal constituency result

Suffolk Coastal result announced by Returning Officer Stephen Baker Therese Coffey was declared the new Conservative MP for the Suffolk Coastal constituency at 2.48am on Friday, 7 May. Her majority was 9,128 and the turn-out was 71.6%.

  • Stephen Bush (UKIP) 3,156 (5.7%)
  • Therese Coffey (Conservative) 25,475 (46.3%) 
  • Daisy Cooper (Liberal Democrat) 16,347 (29.7%)
  • Rachel Fulcher (Green Party) 1,103 (2%)
  • Adam Leeder (Labour) 8,812 (16%)

Central Suffolk and North Ipswich constituency result

Daniel Poulter was declared the new Conservative MP for the Central Suffolk and North Ipswich constituency. His majority was 13,786 and the turn-out was 70.4%. The Central Suffolk & North Ipswich results are as follows:
