In November 2007, the Felixstowe & Trimleys Peninsula Future
Steering Group, in conjunction with planning consultants David Lock
Associates, published a master plan for the regeneration of
Felixstowe’s seafront and town centre.
During 2007 the people of Felixstowe were asked to play their
part in helping draw up the blueprint for the future of their town,
with a focus on the seafront area from Cobbold’s Point to Landguard
Point, and significant parts of the town centre and surrounding
areas
The master plan was developed in two stages - stage
one centred on identifying a long list of broad ideas for projects
and initiatives that could be pursued to regenerate and stimulate
change in the seafront and town centre. The second
stage focused on identifying a shortlist of the ideas produced
in stage one, and then working up the projects in greater
detail.
It builds upon the
Local Strategy for Felixstowe Peninsula
commissioned from David David Lock Associates by Suffolk Coastal
District Council, Felixstowe Town Council, EEDA and English
Partnerships in 2005.
