Current initiatives being worked on include a
shared space road scheme in Hamilton Road and
Bent Hill and the
renovation of the Seafront Gardens which has
recently received Lottery Funding to prepare more detailed plans
to develop proposals for a multi-million pound restoration
project.
Future regeneration proposals range
from public realm improvements such as the conversion of beach
shelters into promenade cafés and the development of a coastal
path, to long term projects including the revitalisation of
the town’s central public space The Triangle.
These projects form the core of the Felixstowe Futures programme
and build upon the work of the
David Lock master plan.
Associated projects
As well as the core projects, Felixstowe Futures will be
supporting a large number of associated projects. These projects
may be happening independently within the district, but they are
aligned to the aspirations and objectives of the Felixstowe Future
initiative. They will benefit by being under the Felixstowe Futures
umbrella through mutual support, PR, marketing and by being part of
a critical mass.
Currently the following
are associated projects of the Felixstowe Futures programme
and benefit from our support and assistance:
- Building Schools for the Future and the new proposed high
school in Felixstowe.
- Trimley Station.
- Orwell Green skateboard park.
- Children’s play area at Langer Park.
- Landguard Partnership - various initiatives.
- Coastal defence works.
The team will also have an input into several other major
schemes effecting Felixstowe such as the development of sports and
leisure facilities across the town, the final vision of the
Local Development Framework for the area, the
Central Felixstowe sea defence scheme and
strategic flood planning.
