The Greenprint Forum links into the
Suffolk Coastal
Local Strategic Partnership (new window) and the
Suffolk-wide Creating the Greenest County community network (new
window). The chair of the forum has a place on the board of the
Local Strategic Partnership ensuring that important
environmental issues such as climate change are given prominence
within the
Suffolk Coastal Community Strategy.
Suffolk Coastal District Council facilitates the forum and
provides the use of the Council Chamber for its meetings.
The forum does not have a constitution or budget as it was felt
a more informal approach was needed at the district-wide scale. The
steering group meets on a quarterly basis to agree a work programme
which can include presentations, site visits and practical
projects.
Areas of work or focus agreed by the forum
include:
- Working more effectively with the Local Strategic Partnership
to support the Community Strategy.
- Climate change.
- Energy conservation and renewable energy.
- Water conservation and grey water schemes.
- Recycling and waste minimisation.
Key actions undertaken:
- Countywide hedgerow survey.
- Annual beach clean at Bawdsey.
- Annual litter pick in Felixstowe.
- Providing support to villages and towns who want
to measure and reduce their carbon footprints.
