Greenprint Forum meetings

The Greenprint Forum meets on a quarterly basis and some meetings are open to the public, if you would like details of these please telephone 01394 444736 or email environmental.protection@suffolkcoastal.gov.uk.

Meetings start at 7.00pm and are held in the Council Chamber, at Melton Hill, Woodbridge (new window), unless a site visit is arranged.

27 October 2008 - General meeting with an environment and business focus including speakers from British Telecom, the Port of Felixstowe and Suffolk County Council.

22 September 2008  - site visit to see composting at Foxhall landfill site.

28 July 2008 - site visit to an environmentally conscious farm.

30 June 2008 - General meeting with talks on the Local Development Framework and on Green Space Strategies.

2 April 2008 - site visit to the Bioganix compost facility, Parham.

25 February 2008 - David Kemp from the Environment Agency spoke about flood management arrangements and Steve Aylward from the Suffolk Wildlife Trust gave a presentation on the impacts of flooding and climate change on local wildlife.

Meetings held in 2007

22 October 2007 - Iain Dunnett, project manager for the Suffolk Strategic Partnership project ‘Suffolk – Creating the Greenest County’, gave a presentation on the aims and background of the greenest county initiative. Phil Gore introduced Deborah Wargate, Suffolk Coastal's new Sustainability Officer who gave an overview of the role of the sustainability officer and a presentation on the Greenprint Forum visit to the straw burner at L F Geater & Sons Ltd, West End Nurseries, Leiston.

25 June 2007 - the meeting was a training session for forum members on carbon footprinting run by the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre Anglia to help Suffolk Coastal support a community carbon footprint project.

23 April 2007 - an introduction to the use of wood chip as a renewable energy source. Included site visits to Anglia Woodfuel's wood chip production and storage facility at Bentwaters Park and wood chip boiler installations at Rendlesham Primary School and a farmhouse in Brundish.

29 January 2007 - the meeting included a presentation by Luke Bennett of the Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) on projects co-ordinated by the LSP followed by discussion on revised aims and objectives for the group and nomination of a member of the group to sit on the LSP board.

Meetings held in 2006

27th November 2006 - the meeting included a presentation by Neil Ridley from Otley College on the future direction of farming and how this might impact on the environment. This was followed by an update on the work of the Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) by Luke Bennett and some discussion around how the forum can support the LSP on environmental issues followed by a review of the groups terms of reference and future work programme.

27 July 2006 - members of the forum were given a tour of the Materials Recycling Facility at Great Blakenham and had an opportunity to see how the dry recyclate, collected through the twin bin scheme, is separated for recycling.
