Submitting a Building Regulations application electronically

You can submit a Building Regulations application electronically on CD, USB memory stick or by email. For all electronic applications please complete the application form below:

Our preference is for plans, images and photographs to be submitted in PDF format. Please see below for further guidance on file types and sizes.

You can email your application to eapp@suffolkcoastal.gov.uk.

Applications on CD or a USB memory stick can be posted to Building Control, Suffolk Coastal District Council, Council Offices, Melton Hill, Woodbridge, IP12 1AU or delivered by hand to the Planning Helpdesk in reception at the same address.

Application payment

When submitting applications by email, on CD or on a USB memory stick, the application payment will need to be made via our telephone payments system or by cheque.

For telephone payments please call 01394 444541 during office hours. Please quote the application site address when making your payment. We are currently putting in place online electronic payments and we will update this page as soon as this facility is available.

Please make cheques payable to Suffolk Coastal District Council.

Acceptable files types and sizes

The maximum file size for submission by email is 6MB per file.

  • PDF is preferred for plans, images, photographs and supporting documents.
  • Plans, images, photographs can be also be supplied as .jpeg, .tiff, .png.
  • Text information and spreadsheets can also be supplied as .doc, .rtf, .txt, .docx, .xls, .xlsx.
  • Please make sure file names are clear and self-descriptive.

Plans and drawings

  • All plans and drawings should show the relevant scale bar and key dimensions.
  • All drawings should specify the printing page size for which the scale applies.
  • A4/A3 preferred.
  • All drawings should be correctly orientated for display on screen.
  • All drawings should be saved in single layers.
  • Photograph files should be no larger than 15cm x 10cm.
  • No post processing/retouching to any original documents is acceptable.
