Suffolk Coastal recognises that there is a growing need for
affordable housing in the district. Meeting the
district's housing needs is
one
of the Council's main priorities.
In May 2004 the Council proposed an alteration to its
planning policies that would require housing developers to build
more affordable homes.
Proposals for a Second Alteration to the Suffolk Coastal Local
Plan, dealing specifically with affordable housing, were placed on
first deposit in May 2004. Following consultation, a public inquiry
in March 2005, a planning inspector's report and subsequent
modifications the policies were incorporated into the Local Plan as
a Second Alteration with effect from 31 March 2006.
The Second Alteration changes policies AP37 and AP38. These have
been replaced with policies AP37A and AP38A. Also replaced are
paragraphs 3.49 to 3.57 as seen in the First Alteration. You
can view the replacement text and policies by following the
links below. No changes have been made to any of the proposals
maps.
