Conservation area appraisals

Consultation is now closed on seven draft appraisals we have prepared for the conservation areas of Blythburgh, Brandeston, Cretingham, Darsham, Dennington, Huntingfield and the appraisals will be revised in the light of all comments received.

Suffolk Coastal's Cabinet will meet on 3 July 2012 (please note revised meeting date) with a recommendation to formally adopted the revised appraisals and any member of the public is welcome to attend to listen to the discussion. The report for the Cabinet meeting will be available to view online from 25 June.

Each appraisal tries to define the character of the conservation area by identifying the special features, including buildings, trees and open spaces that make an important contribution to it. Once adopted by the Council the appraisals will help guide future changes to the conservation areas, including how planning applications are considered, and suggest ways in which they can be managed and improved.

The draft appraisal documents can be viewed by following the links below:

There are no proposals in the appraisals to alter the boundaries of the conservation areas but suggestions for doing so were welcomed for any future boundary review.
