The Local Plan is made up of a number of documents:
Development plan documents
Core Strategy & Development Management Policies - this document was adopted in July 2013 and sets out the strategic vision for the district and our communities. This also includes the Development Management Policies which are used in the determination of planning applications.
'Saved' policies - the Council will continue to have regard to the remaining 'saved' policies from the previously adopted Suffolk Coastal Local Plan (incorporating the First & Second Alterations) until replacement by policies in the Site Allocations & Area-Specific Policies and the Area Action Plan for the Felixstowe Peninsula.
Site Allocations & Area Specific Policies - Consultation on the Preferred Options draft of this document is currently underway. The consultation runs from Monday 19 October to Monday 30 November. The document allocates land for development, covering a variety of uses including housing, employment and retail.
Area Action Plan for the Felixstowe Peninsula - Consultation on the Preferred Options draft of this document is currently underway. The consultation runs from Monday 19 October to Monday 30 November. The document focuses on the Felixstowe Peninsula and allocates land for development, covering a variety of uses including housing, employment and retail.
The Local Plan is one policy component which guides development in the district. The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sets out national planning policy and is supplemented by the Planning Practice Guidance. Neighbourhood plans, once made, also form part of the development plan.
