The Core Strategy and Development Control Policies document is
one of the most important parts of the Local Development Framework
(LDF) because it:
- Sets out a vision for the district and the context for the rest
of the LDF.
- Identifies where growth is going to occur and where protection
is essential.
- Contains the policies that will be used in determining planning
applications.
Core Strategy Preferred Options consultation
After a great deal of
public consultation we are now at the stage
where we can publish our preferred options for the future. The
Core Strategy Preferred Options document sets out a vision for
the district as it will be in 2025 and a series of objectives
and policies to show how this vision will be achieved.
We are consulting on the Core Strategy Preferred Options
document from 8 December 2008 until 20 February
2009, and we would like as many people as possible to give
us their views and tell us what they think - you can make
comments online or by post.
At the same time we are also consulting on the
Site Specific Allocations Issues and Options
document, which looks specifically at what additional land is
required to meet the development needs set out in the Core Strategy
and to identify individual sites to meet this need.
Find out more at our information roadshows
A series of information roadshows are being held across the
district when you will be able to come along and find out more
about the LDF. Planning officers will be available at drop-in
sessions to discuss issues and answer your questions. Follow this
link for a
list of dates, times and venues.
What happens next?
Once all comments have been considered we will draw up our final
Core Strategy - there will still be another chance for people to
influence its contents when representations on the final document
will be invited. This will be followed by a public hearing
conducted by an independent planning inspector who will consider
all the views we have received and will debate many of them in
public. The inspector’s conclusions will be binding on the Council
and this should be the end of the process, with the Core Strategy
adopted by mid-2010.
