The Core Strategy Issues and Options document sets out the
Council’s vision for the district and proposes the draft objectives
that a planning strategy must work towards if this vision is to
materialise.
The document summarises the issues that have been identified so
far and takes on board comments received through consultation and
on-going Local Development Framework workshops. It
also makes provision for the levels of development identified
for the Suffolk Coastal district in the Government's Regional
Spatial Strategy (known as the
East of England Plan (new window) for our
region).
Consultation
In February 2007 we asked the views of the public and other
interested parties in the first major stage in the public
consultation process.
We considered all the comments received and put forward a
preferred option for each of the issues in the
Core Strategy Preferred Options document,
published in December 2008, which sets out the anticipated social,
economic and environmental impacts of pursuing the preferred
options as well as the predicted impacts of alternative
options.
We consulted on the Core Strategy Preferred Options document
between December 2008 and February 2009.
The Issues and Options document
The document is divided into two parts - Part 1 sets out the
background to the new development plan process and is for
information only. Part 2 contains the vision, draft objectives and
the options on which we consulted.
Part 2 is subdivided into topic areas so that you can find your
way around it easily. Each sub-section contains headline facts and
figures for the topic, how it relates to the
Suffolk Coastal Community Strategy, and a
summary of issues raised in earlier consultations. We were
interested in answers to the questions posed in each section and
any other thoughts and comments people had.
