Driving the Haven Gateway Forward: The Economic Impact of the Ports & Logistics Sector - May 2010 (new window PDF 920KB) - report published by the Haven Gateway Partnership on the economic impact on the Haven Gateway area of the transport, ports and logistics industry.

Suffolk Coastal District Council Draft Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) - May 2010 (new window 5.56MB) - The SHLAA identifies a list of sites which may be suitable and available for housing development. The purpose of the study is to identify sites with potential for housing development but the study does not make any decisions about site allocations. These decisions will be made in the Council’s Site Allocations and Policies Development Plan Document and Area Action Plans. Any site identified with potential for housing development will also need to be assessed through the planning process and also be the subject of a sustainability appraisal before any development can occur.

Suffolk Coastal Renewable and Low Carbon Technical Study Final Report - April 2010 (new window PDF 5.80MB) - Study prepared by AECOM which reflects the requirements of Planning Policy Statement (PPS) 1 ‘Delivering Sustainable Development’, and the PPS1 Supplement on Planning and Climate Change and will support the reduction of CO2 emissions from residential and non-domestic buildings in the district through the use of planning policy.

Housing Land Supply Assessment - December 2009 (new window PDF 576KB) - Planning Policy Statement 3 (PPS3) requires that Planning Authorities should set out a framework for delivering the level of housing provision that will enable a continuous delivery of housing for at least 15 years from the date of adoption of the Core Strategy document. This report sets out the availability of housing land supply as at 31 March 2009. The first five year period for analysis is a forward look from 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2015. The 15 year period runs up to 31 March 2026 which is 15 years from the anticipated year of the Core Strategy adoption in 2011.

County Wildlife Site Review 2009 - October 2009 (new window PDF 7.22MB) - Ecological assessment of thirty one County Wildlife Sites in the Suffolk Coastal district carried out by SWT Ecological Consultants.

Haven Gateway Employment Land Review & Strategic Sites Study - October 2009 (new window PDF 4.50MB) - Report by GVA Grimley commissioned by the Haven Gateway Partnership.

Appropriate Assessment for the Core Strategy and Development Management Policies - September 2009 (new window PDF 5.08MB) - Appropriate Assessment is required under the 'Habitats Regulations’ and tests whether a plan or a project is likely to have a significant negative impact on any areas or sites that are protected for birds, habitats or wetlands by European designation.

Ipswich Eastern Fringe Infrastructure Study - September 2009 (new window PDF 1.98MB) - This report is an assessment of the strategic, community and infrastructure provision in light of the predicted growth in the Ipswich Eastern Fringe area of 2,000 homes until 2025.

Felixstowe Infrastructure Study - September 2009 (new window PDF 1.67MB) - This report is an assessment of the strategic, community and infrastructure provision in light of the predicted growth in the Felixstowe area of 1,000 homes until 2025.

Suffolk Coastal Retail Study Further Update - September 2009 (new window PDF 526KB) - This study builds upon the December 2008 update to look at the potential retail floorspace needs resulting from proposed increased growth in the Ipswich Policy Area - east of the A12 and to take account of economic slowdown.

Suffolk Coastal District Council Local Development Framework Housing Allocations - Proposed Strategy Transport Appraisal - September 2009 (new window PDF 3.26MB) - This report produced by AECOM considers the potential transport implications and requirements of the proposed housing allocations for the area including Ipswich Policy Area, Felixstowe/Walton and Trimleys villages and the market towns. These areas are considered both independently and cumulatively for transport impact.

Felixstowe and the Trimleys Leisure Needs Analysis - September 2009 (new window PDF 3.38MB) - Report examining current leisure provision, including existing buildings stock, in Felixstowe and the Trimleys and making recommendations as to the future of leisure provision up to and including 2024.

Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) - January 2009 - The primary objective of the study prepared by Scott Wilson was to enable the two participating local authorities to undertake sequential testing in line with the Government’s flood risk and development policy document - Planning Policy Statement (PPS) 25: Development and Flood Risk - to inform the development of their emerging Local Development Framework (LDF) documents.

Technical note: In the SFRA document above, the 1 in 1000 year event modelling for Woodbridge uses 4.38 metres AOD (Above Ordnance Datum), which has been taken from the extreme water levels report. However, recent advice from the Environment Agency has stated that the water level which should now be used for this scenario event is 4.61 metres AOD taken from the estuaries studies. Please note that Flood Risk Assessments and flooding consideration in the Woodbridge area should be aware of these levels and may be asked to use the higher 4.61 metres AOD in any modelling. For further information please contact the local Environment Agency office.

Suffolk Coastal Retail Study Update - December 2008 (new window PDF 6.20MB) - Update of the Retail Study produced by CB Hillier Parker in 2003 (see below). Commissioned by Suffolk Coastal to predominantly investigate how forecasts and the future housing growth may have impacted upon the retail floorspace needs in the district and to extend the quantitative assessment to 2025 in line with the Council’s Local Development Framework. This update produced by CB Richard Ellis (previously CB Hillier Parker) should be read in conjunction with 2003 Retail Study.

Strategic Housing Market Assessment - November 2008 & June 2009  - Research commissioned by Suffolk Coastal, Babergh and Mid Suffolk district councils and Ipswich Borough Council aimed at estimating housing need and demand in the Ipswich Housing Market Area.
