A vital ingredient
for a good quality of life is to have vibrant, diverse and
high quality arts available for everyone. The Suffolk Coastal
district has an enviable bedrock of resident artists and arts
organisations who contribute towards this.
We are committed to building on these foundations by devising
and supporting the delivery of an arts programme which responds to
local needs and interests.
We recognise that the arts are not just an opportunity for
people of all ages to enjoy as audience members but they also give
many people a significant opportunity to learn or develop skills.
The arts also have a significant role to play in the local economy,
with opportunities for people to pursue a career in one aspect of
the field, or through the box office receipts at venues across the
district.
Suffolk Coastal has an arts and
heritage development officer who is assisting the local arts
community to become more united so it can share resources and
expertise. We also back a variety of community based arts
initiatives like the Soundwaves project which is aimed at
encouraging the musical talents of local young people.
