Soundwaves is a music project for young people aged 13 to 26 in
the Suffolk Coastal area.
It offers workshops in pop and rock, music tech and dj-ing, run
by a team of dedicated professional tutors and puts on gigs to
showcase the best local talent.
2011 Ultimate Bands Contest
The 2011 contest was battled out over three heats and a final which
took place on 21 October at Framlingham College. The winners
were:
1st - Rosie & Emily
2nd - The Farthings
3rd - Rogues Cradle
The other finalists who performed were Lucy Sampson, Timothy
Leat, Rogues Cradle, FLiCKER, Eva Edwards, Joe Nickson and Never
Ending Lights. Dirty Addiction were selected as finalists but
didn't perform on the night.
The competition was open to any artist living the Suffolk Coastal
district, aged between 13 and 26, or bands with at least one member
living in the district. All entrants had to be unsigned and had to
have three original songs they have written.
The winner's prize includes a day in a recording studio, music
industry masterclasses, and £250 cash. The second place
prize was £150 and third place £100.
Sounds of the East Coast CD albums
The fourth Soundwaves album was launched at the final of
the 2011 Ultimate Bands Contest and features tracks from the 10
finalists.
Copies of this latest Sounds of the East Coast CD and CDs from the
Soundwaves back catalogue, featuring previous Soundwaves finalists,
including Ed Sheeran, are available by post and cost £5 each - for
