What is Soundwaves?
Soundwaves is an exciting project that is giving young people in
our district the chance to fine-tune their musical talents and
learn new skills with help from the experts.
Soundwaves Ultimate Bands Contest
The Soundwaves Ultimate Bands Contest is offering bands and solo
artists in the Suffolk Coastal district the chance to compete,
battle-of-the-bands style, for the opportunity to work with top
industry professionals, record demo CDs, and perform live on
stage.
Over the course of two heats, held at Woodbridge’s Seckford
Theatre, 24 bands and artists will get the chance to battle it out
on stage.
Five acts from each of the heats will be selected to
record a three track demo for free at Leiston's Summerhill Studios.
One track from each will be showcased on a new Sounds from the East
Coast CD, to be released next year, and these ten will also be
offered the chance to attend workshops run by music industry
professionals.
The top five bands competing in the second heat, which takes
place on Saturday, December 6 at Seckford Theatre, Woodbridge, from
7.30pm to 11pm, will join the winners from the first heat. Two
bands will be chosen by the judges, and the remaining three will be
selected by audience votes.
Winners of the first heat were Axis, Ed Sheeran, Friendly
Misunderstood Rabbits, Silk & Steel and Voxx Logic.
The bands taking part in the second heat are Bernadette, Dirty
Shockwaves, The Ultrasonic Monkeys, Bird Flew, Steel Rhino,
Containz Nutz, Left Searching, Highly Corrosive, The Great White
Hopes, Hey Zuuz, Hollotones, and Mainstream Daydream.
Envy & Other Sins, the Birmingham-based band that recently
won the T4 mobileAct Unsigned competition, will be headlining on
the night.
Tickets for the second heat cost £5 (£4 concessions) from
the box office at
Seckford Theatre (new window), Woodbridge on
01394 615015. A limited number of tickets will be available on the
door.
