Why not join us on our health walks?
Stepping Out in Suffolk is a programme of health walks offered across the county by Livewell Suffolk (new window). These are low impact, guided walks that enable you to increase or maintain your levels of physical activity in a supportive, sociable environment.
You walk with trained leaders and at your own pace. Children are very welcome when accompanied by a responsible adult. Buggys and wheelchairs are welcome where stated.
Well behaved dogs are welcome on short leads unless otherwise stated.
You will find details of walks near you in the leaflets below:

Please note that Livewell no longer send out printed walk programmes by post but they are now available at local libraries, tourist information centres and information points across Suffolk - see the back of the latest programme for details.
Health walks grading system
Health walks are graded 1 to 5 to give you an indication of which ones are easy or a bit more challenging - a key to the grading system is given below:
- Grade 1 - on easy flat good surfaces.
- Grade 2 - mostly on the level but can be muddy in places.
- Grade 3 - some moderate slopes but good surfaces.
- Grade 4 - more challenging - may include steeper slopes, rough ground and mud in wet weather.
- Grade 5 - as for grade 4 but may include one or two stiles.
Please complete a health questionnaire before you walk with us
The national Walking For Health scheme requires us to ensure every person who comes on a health walk has completed a health questionnaire. This is for insurance purposes and to help each local scheme evaluate their health walks and show funders that they offer value for money.
To save time, if you have not completed this questionnaire or are walking with us for the first time, please could you print a copy off, complete and sign it, and give it to a walk leader on your next walk.
Local bus services and community transport
The suffolkonboard website has comprehensive information about bus services and community transport in Suffolk - you may find it useful if you don't have access to your own transport:

Volunteer health walk leaders wanted
We are keen to expand the programme to many more areas in Suffolk but we need more volunteers to lead walks or act as back marker to make sure no one gets lost.
If you like walking, have a little bit of free time, like meeting people and want to be part of a supportive network then please come and join us. Free training and insurance is available to all walk leaders.
If you are interested please contact the health walks team on 01473 229292 or email info@livewellsuffolk.org.uk.
