After the success of the first Woodwose Festival in 2010, this
year's festival was billed as being bigger and better
than last year and a host of events were held across the district
and in Waveney.
Woodwose embraces every kind of outdoor activity that can be
pursued in this beautiful and unrivalled part of the county.
During Woodwose fortnight there was a packed programme of events
inspired and devised exclusively for Woodwose - including guided
bike rides, themed walks, horse treks and Nordic walking, kite
making and flying, open gardens, beach fishing, fungi foraging,
geo-caching at Sutton Hoo, and archery.
The Suffolk Herring Festival, on 22 & 23
October 2011, was the highlight of the middle weekend with local
food, music and tales about the Suffolk coast and countryside.
And if you don't know, a Woodwose is a ‘wild man'
symbolising nature and the spirit of the countryside.
Woodwose 2 launch
Woodwose 2 was launched in Aldeburgh on Saturday 15 October
2011 with a pumpkin and chilli pepper festival and finished
with a spooky day on the Landguard Peninsula, Felixstowe
on Saturday 29 October 2011.
On launch day there was live music, local food, a Whacky
Woodwose Pumpkin Competition, pumpkin carving demonstrations and
workshops, fire twirlers, salsa and samba drumming workshops and
lantern making ahead of tree dressing at twilight.
The foodie theme included a live cookery demonstration from the
chef at Aldeburgh's White Lion Hotel, revealing the many different
ways to cook and enjoy pumpkin, with some surprises. The Chilli
Company were on hand with chilli delights to sample.

Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB pub walks
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Suffolk Coast and
Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 2010, the Suffolk
Coast and Heaths team and Suffolk brewers Adnams worked together to
produce a set of new walk guides all linked to popular pubs. The
walks, which were a feature of Woodwose 2010, are a great way to
explore the area and are available to download from the Suffolk
Coast and Heaths website:
Woodwose 2 is organised by Suffolk Coastal with support from
Thorpeness and Aldeburgh Hotels Limited, Discover Suffolk and
Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and in
partnership with Waveney District Council, The Poetry Trust,
Suffolk Sport and The Suffolk Herring
Festival.
