Landlord liaison
Over 5,000 people in the Suffolk Coastal district are entitled
to Housing Benefit which helps pay some or all of their rent. It
is, therefore, essential that there is a regular exchange of
information between our Benefits Team and the many individual
and corporate landlords regarding the rent and service charges that
their tenants are liable to pay.
We make regular liaison visits to landlords to discuss the
latest news about Housing Benefit and how we can help.
We also provide landlords with a specific contact point for
discussing any difficulties or problems regarding a particular
property or tenancy - that contact point is our Landlord Liaison
Officer, who you can contact on 01394 444466 or by
emailing
benefits@suffolkcoastal.gov.uk.
Landlords' forum
Meetings for landlords and property
agents are held twice a year to discuss and exchange points of
view about letting property.
As many as six speakers talk at the meetings on topics such as
property improvement grants, fire safety and landlord law. There is
something for most interests and the opportunity to meet and talk
to Council officers.
Meetings are usually held in April and November. Details of the
next meeting, which will be in 2010, will be published
here when available.
'Lend a Hand' newsletter
We produce a periodic newsletter for landlords, with the latest
information about Housing Benefit and any new legislation regarding
property and tenants. If you are not on our mailing list please
contact our Landlord Liaison Officer. You can view the latest
issue by following the link below:

Join our customer panel
It is also important that we understand the landlord’s point of
view - landlords are invited to join our customer panel to have a
voice in the decision-making process for improving the benefits
service. If you are interested please contact our Landlord
Liaison Officer.
