Council Tax

Council Tax and financial information 2011/2012 (new window PDF 932KB)

Suffolk Coastal is responsible for collecting Council Tax for the district, although the total amount collected is divided between Suffolk Coastal, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Police Authority and your town or parish council.

The money is used to provide local services such as education, social services, libraries, police, leisure centres, refuse collection and recycling - to name just a few.

The amount of Council Tax you have to pay (before any reductions) depends on the level of Council Tax set and the valuation band (Council Tax band) of your property.

The allocation of the correct Council Tax bands to all homes in England and Wales is the responsibility of the Valuation Office Agency (new window).
