Suffolk Coastal's Private Sector Housing team deals with issues
to do with privately owned accommodation, whether it be tenanted,
owner occupied, or otherwise.
The team is responsible for:
- Enforcing housing standards, including powers
under the Housing Act 2004 for remedying hazards to the health and
safety of occupiers of houses, the mandatory licensing of houses,
disrepair, standards relating to
houses in multiple occupation (e.g. flats,
bedsits) and overcrowding.
- Some enforcement of legislation relating to illegal occupation
of land by travellers.
The Helping Hand home improvement agency is
incorporated within the team and
Suffolk
Energy Action Link (SEAL) is managed by the team.
