Your waste and recycling services

Recycle for Suffolk Coastal logoSuffolk Coastal is committed to working in partnership with its residents to make it easier for them to get into the recycling habit. We collect paper and green waste from every home in the district on a fortnightly basis, and there are over 250 mini-recycling centres in more than 80 of the district’s parishes.

Wheeled bin recycling serviceThanks to the willingness of residents to make use of their local recycling services, the current amount of household waste that is being recycled rather than going into landfill rubbish tips is around 45 per cent, which is well above the national average.

In the summer of 2006 a new wheeled bin recycling service was launched for over 9,000 homes in the district, giving people the chance to have their cardboard, plastics, foil, cans and paper collected every fortnight. 9,500 homes received the new service in 2007 and another 13,500 will get it in 2008.

Every home in the district now has an improved green waste service so that everyone can recycle all their food waste by putting it in their brown bin.

However, while we are working hard to reduce the amount of waste that is thrown away, we also offer a wide range of services to dispose of waste including our normal household refuse collection service.
