Your waste and recycling services
In 2006 we launched a new
wheeled bin recycling and refuse collection
service, giving people alternate fortnightly collections of
recyclable materials and household refuse that cannot be
recycled.

Most households in the district now receive the new service -
the roll out will be completed in March this year, when the
remaining 5,000 or so homes will receive it.
For homes that do not yet have the new wheeled bin collection
service, we operate a
weekly black sack collection service for
household refuse and a fortnightly collection of waste paper from
green crates.
Every home in the district has a
fortnightly brown bin collection service for
their garden and food waste.
Thanks to the willingness of residents to make use of their
recycling services, the current amount of household waste that is
being recycled rather than going into landfill is 48.5%, which is
well above the English average of 37.6%.
Our waste and recycling services are operated by our partners,
Suffolk Coastal Services Ltd (new window), a
subsidiary of Norse Commercial Services. If you have any questions
about our waste and recycling services or if you would like any
more information or advice, please contact Suffolk Coastal Services
