All accessible households in Suffolk Coastal receive a
fortnightly collection of waste paper from either green paper
recycling crates or blue lidded wheeled bins.
The roll out of the blue lidded wheeled bins to every home in
the district will be completed in March this year, when the
remaining 5,000 or so homes will receive it.
Homes with blue lidded bins no longer have
their green crates emptied as all waste paper, catalogues and
other paper products should now go in the blue lidded bin.
For households that do not yet have the new wheeled bin
collection service, information about what you can put in your
green paper recycling crate and when it will be collected is given
below and in the frequently asked questions section.
Your collection day
Your green crate will be emptied every fortnight on the same day
as your black sack refuse collection during the weeks
highlighted on the recycling calendars that are sent out to every
home at the begining of the year.
Your green crate should be out ready for emptying at 7.30am as
collections start early. Please note that the time of collection
may change at any time, so to avoid missing the collection, always
put your crate out by 7.30am.
If you are not sure of your collection day, or haven't received
a calendar, or have lost your copy, you can look up your next
collection day and download a calendar by following the link
below:
Alternatively, call Suffolk Coastal Services on 01394
444000 or email
scsltd@suffolkcoastal.gov.uk
and they will confirm your collection day or send you a new
calendar.
Our waste collection services operate as normal on bank
holidays, except during the Christmas and New Year holiday
period.
What to put in your green crate
Please only put out clean paper for
collection:
- Newspapers
- Shopping catalogues
- Magazines
- Holiday brochures
- Envelopes
- Writing paper
- Brochures
- Office-type paper
- Pamphlets
- White telephone directories
- Junk mail
- Greetings cards

Please do not put any of the following items
in your green crate as they will not be
collected:
- Cardboard including cereal boxes
- Glass
- Cans, tins or foil
- Plastic
- Shredded paper (put it in your brown bin)
- Any other waste
Please help us by following these
guidelines:
- Put the green crate where you normally leave your black refuse
sacks.
- Please remember that collections start at 7.30am.
- Help reduce theft or loss by taking your green crate in as soon
as possible after collection.
- Please do not put paper into black sacks or with your general
rubbish.
- To prevent windblown paper, place your black sack on top of the
green crate.
- Placing the paper in edgeways, rather than laying it flat, can
also help prevent windblown paper.
- If you do not have a green crate, you can place your paper in
open topped carrier bags alongside your black sacks.
Please use local recycling sites
You can take your paper, glass, cans, plastics, textiles, books
and other recyclable materials to one of the many recycling centres
across the district:
Using local recycling facilities helps community groups that
receive community recycling grants.
