Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority

Suffolk Coastal Port Health website - opens in a new window Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority (SCPHA) is part of Suffolk Coastal District Council and is based at the Port of Felixstowe, the UK’s largest container port. SCPHA is responsible for:

  • Operation of the Felixstowe border inspection post (products of animal origin).

  • Imported food control (non-animal origin products) at Felixstowe, Harwich International Port, Harwich Navyard and Mistley Quay.

  • Inspection of vessels to ensure compliance with international and United Kingdom health requirements food hygiene.

  • Inspections of vessels within the dock control of infectious disease.

  • Checks on organic produce at point of importation and undertaking monitoring programmes.

Online Common Entry Document system

SCPHA has developed and recently introduced the first phase of an online Common Entry Document system called Port Health Interactive Live Information System (PHILIS).

This purpose-built system has been introduced at Felixstowe to help Suffolk Coastal’s port health team provide an even better service to businesses. Follow the link below to find out more about PHILIS and to register use the system.
