Following consultation with all town and parish councils, other
interested parties, statutory consultees and the public, the
Council has made some changes to the management of its car parks
which came into effect on 2 April 2012.
Suffolk Coastal's Cabinet voted in favour of introducing the
changes at its
meeting on 3 January 2012 (new window). Read
the press release Budget gap forces town centre parking
increases.
The changes amend some provisions of the
Suffolk Coastal District Council (Off-Street Parking
Places) Order 2008 which applies to all the off-street car
parks operated by the Council. The 2008 Order will continue to
apply apart from where changes have been previously made by the
Variation Order made in 2010.
Changes in the Order include:
- An increase in tariffs in town centre car parks.
- Revision of the financial concession for parking for blue badge
holders to give double the time purchased when a valid Pay and
Display ticket is displayed alongside a valid blue badge.
- Price of the discounted beach hut owners car parking permits to
be £55 for a single vehicle registration, £75 for two
registrations.
- Conversion of the Woodbridge coach and lorry park to car
parking.
- The introduction of car park charges in Framlingham from April
2013.
- Allowing payment using additional methods.
- Enabling the Police to issue an excess charge notice to an
individual without an identified vehicle for enforcement of Article
50 (which includes non-vehicle related anti-social
behaviour).
